The first liver transplantation in Czech Republic was performed by the team of Professor V. Koristek in Brno in 1983. Liver transplant program as a routine program sufficient to coverthe needs of most of our patients with end-stage liver disease was commenced in lKEM Prague in April 1995. Until that time lKEM already was running kidney, heart as well as pancreas transplant programs.
