Abstract

Background: The function of many organs depends on the time of achieving full liver efficiency after transplantation. The aim of the study was to estimate the influence of the transplanted liver's efficiency on selected coagulation parameters as well as the analysis of other factors infl uencing clotting disorder in the liver transplant recipients.
Material/Methods: Fifty-one patients after liver transplantation performed in 2002 were included into the study. The results of serum biochemistry,  coagulation and blood cell count were retrospectively analysed at the time of liver transplantation and after 1, 2, and 5 years post-transplant. Also immunosuppressive regimen, presence of splenomegaly, and anticoagulation agents were taken into consideration.
Results: Improvement of transplanted liver function significantly influences the coagulation parameters in patients in the first year post-transplant. The statistically significant dependences were found between INR and albumin level (p=0.0000007), PT and ALT (p=0.00000006), and aPTT and ALT (p=0.00002). Factors not connected directly with transplanted liver efficiency (splenomegaly, immunosuppressive regimen and infections) are more important in the late period after transplantation.
